Garden Vale @ Tengah and Plantation Acres are two of the upcoming HDB BTO May 2019 Sales Launch. Garden Vale @ Tengah estate follows concept of meandering landscaped spaces and discover suitable nooks for quiet contemplation, leisure, and outdoor fun. Tengah town is HDB newest town in development since the development of Punggol in the 1990s and will be about the size of Bishan town. It is divided into Plantation, Park, Garden, Market Place, Forest Hill and Brickland Districts. Each of these districts will be designed with the theme of community and nature in mind, in line with the vision for Tengah as a “forest town”.

Garden Vale @ Tengah is situated in the new Tengah Garden District, which is framed by Tengah Pond and Central Park. This picturesque setting will be complemented by the garden-themed farmway, which encourages healthy and active living. Themed playgrounds inspired by nature or motifs such as flowers and garden creatures strengthen the visual identity of Garden District and encourage imaginative play. Green markers at key entry points along the Garden District, such as botanical arbours framed with flowering creepers, provide shade and visual respite from the urban landscape.

On the other end Plantation Acres will be in the Plantation District, having key amenities such as a community club, neighbourhood centre, and a shopping street will line the Plantation Farmway, making it a vibrant spot for residents to gather. There will be opportunities for facilities such as organic markets and farm-to-table dining.

Incoming plans includes a sports hub and a health and medical care facility, and the southwestern portion of Tengah will be developed as part of the Jurong Innovation District, a newer industrial development compared to Jurong Industrial Estate. Along with the new Jurong Region MRT Line to be done in 2026, and a new integrated transport hub will also be ready by 2022.

Historical Significance of Tengah BTO

Bound by the Kranji and Pan-Island expressways, before urbanization of Singapore took place, south of Tengah was previously known as “Hong Kah”, a Chinese kampong located just slightly north off present-day Jurong West. A neighbourhood of the same name within Jurong West, continues to retain this appellation. Also, there was a Malay kampong known as Kampong Ulu Jurong, just opposite of Hong Kah Village along Jurong Road.

In the old maps, the area appears as Tengeh or Tengah. In Malay, the word Tengah means “centre”, “central” or “middle”. The name may be taken from the nearby Sungei Tengah (Malay for Tengah River). The western part became inaccessible to the public first in 1996 and was used by the military for training activities (which is west of Jurong Road Track 22), followed by the eastern part of Hong Kah (which is east of Jurong Road Track 22) in 2005.

In the past, there were several village roads that used to serve the area. Roads such as Hong Kah Road/Lane/Drive/Circle, Sing Nan Road, Kian Hong Road, Jalan Keladan, Jalan Beka, Jalan Pelawan, Jalan Jelawi, Jalan Sena, Lorong Putek, Jalan Buey, Jalan Mandar and Jalan Ara. The last few roads, such as Jalan Lam San and Jalan Chichau existed till January 2019. Therefore, these two roads were expunged.

The carpark located at the south west of Plantation Acres estate is 5/5 multi-storey and comes with an accessible roof garden at the top 6th storey.

Car entrance and exit for the carpark are accessible at the north of Plantation Acres estate, directly away from any residential blocks. As such, there is no immediate concern for any stack obstruction facing the carpark entrance/exit.

Transportation Infrastructure Nearby Garden Vale @ Tengah & Plantation Grove
To connect residents to neighbouring towns and the city, two MRT stations along the upcoming Jurong Regional Line will be located within the Plantation District. Most bus stops will be within 300m of residential homes, as stated by HDB.
